Polyurea vs. the alternatives.

Polyurea vs. Epoxy

Epoxy is cheap to apply and very chemical resistant, but it is rigid, slow to cure and yellows in sunlight. Polyurea wins wherever the surface moves, takes impact or has to be back in service the same day.

  • Choose Epoxy forIndoor decorative floors with long downtime allowed

FAQ

Good questions.

Answers to what people ask us most about this.

Can I buy polyurea without a spray rig?

Most professional polyurea needs heated plural-component equipment. Some slower, hand-mixed or cartridge products exist for small repairs, but they are not a substitute for a sprayed system on real jobs.

What is the difference between pure and hybrid polyurea?

Pure polyurea uses amine-terminated resins only and cures extremely fast. Hybrids blend in polyols, which can lower cost and change handling but also change performance. Check the data sheet for what you are buying.

How is polyurea sold?

Usually as matched sets — an A side (isocyanate) and a B side (resin blend) — in drums or smaller kits, along with the primers and topcoats that complete the system.

What should I ask for before buying?

The TDS and SDS, recommended primers, application temperature ranges, recommended thickness for your use, and the warranty terms.
